Growing your own is becoming increasingly more popular, so make sure you don't miss out on this great opportunity to buy this specially selected collection of fruit trees. This superb collection contains plants that not only make your garden taste good but look good too!
Our specially selected collection features one small tree each of:
Black Currant - You can enjoy these easy to grow kitchen favourites picked fresh from your own garden with this special offer on Black Currant. Perfect for Summer puddings, juices, jams, preserves and fresh fruit salads. This Black Currant (Ribes Nigrum), also known as “French Cassis” contains more vitamin C than oranges and yields a good amount of essential nutrients!
Citrus Lemon - Lemons from your garden! These plants are increasingly more suited to our climate and with some protection can be grown outside all year in sheltered areas. They make great container subjects and may even be suitable for growing in the open ground in sunny aspects! We have carefully selected this lemon plant for its impressive cropping potential. This Citrus plant is a really lovely variety with large bright yellow fruits to add some zest to your gin and tonics! The plants have deep green, glossy leaves and tiny white flowers which have a delicious perfume! Perfect for lemon cheesecake too!
Citrus Mitis (Calamondin) – Fantastic little plant that produces small, aromatic, bright, orange-red fruits which have an acidic lime-orange flavour. The Calamondin is ideal in a container or tub on the patio, and can also be kept indoors as a houseplant. Being non-specific in its preference to soil, and being self-fertile, relatively drought-tolerate and cold hardy, it adapts easily to any culture. It will produce flowers and fruit usually within a few months to two years.
Kiwi Jenny – Kiwi fruit have rapidly become a very popular fruit in Britain because of its healthy properties and the fact that it just tastes good! Now you can grow your own at home with Kiwi Jenny. Kiwi Jenny is best on a south or west facing trellis or against a fence as it likes some support, perhaps on the patio edge. Kiwi Jenny will grow vigorously and will start to produce a crop of traditional ‘fuzzy' kiwi fruits within a couple of years. Packed with more vitamin C than an equivalent amount of orange, the bright green flesh of the kiwi fruit speckled with tiny black seeds adds a dramatic tropical flair to any fruit salad. Kiwi Jenny is self-fertile which means that you only need the one plant and produces a large crop of medium sized fruits.
Fig Brown Turkey – Grow your own figs with this superb variety, 'Brown Turkey', especially suited to British conditions. Fig 'Brown Turkey' is a reliable performer and is capable of producing a heavy crop of large fruits in most situations, including on patios, especially if trained against a warm wall. The tree will also create a lifelong architectural feature in your garden. Brown Turkey will reward you if you contain the extreme vigour of the tree and we recommend restricting the roots by planting on a large container or construct a planting hole lined by broken slabs.
Pear Tree (Pyrus Conference) – Popular variety that offers a bountiful crop of sweet, juicy fruits. There is nothing quite like picking a ripe pear from your own tree and eating it there and then – the juiciness is at its greatest and the flavour is unsurpassable! This tree will give you a delightful array of textures and flavour – perfect for eating from the tree, for cooking or for adding flavour to late Summer salads! Pears make lovely feature trees in the garden and can be controlled by pruning to keep them to a manageable size.
